A Sonnet about Home

It is the place that holds me safe and sound

Where mind finds peace and heart is wholly fed

And no worries, shame, nor terror do hound

So come sweet dreams when laying down my head

With kitties’ purrs and gentle lovers’ words

Mother’s advice and father’s hard-earned praise

Siblings that taunt and children in the yards

Just being together makes holidays

A Monday in June or Fourth of July

Time doesn’t matter, just the company

Simple days or when life has gone awry

Quiet dinners or kids’ cacophony

We merrily meet and merrier part

For home is hidden in family’s hearts
