What does comfort mean to me?

A hot cup of tea and the wind in a tree.

What does comfort mean to you?

Let’s make a list; name one or two.

A dear friend’s smile,

Finding a feather,

Movies and popcorn,

A shift in the weather.

Lavender everything,

The earth-smell of rain,

Patches of sunlight,

A smooth windowpane.

The hush of old bookstores,

The fuzz on a sweater,

The weight of a blanket,

Or writing a letter.

Warm mac n’ cheese,

An chill autumn breeze,

A big bear hug,

A long-lost sneeze.

A new laptop sticker,

A dog’s silky ears,

Romping with kittens,

Loud laughter through tears.

A crackling fire,

A trip to the Shire,

Candlelight dinners,

And cozy attire.

Starlight and moonlight,

And kisses and dancing,

A home full of love,

Life can be so entrancing.

There are many more things,

Like sunrises and ‘sets,

Old tv shows, or holidays,

Or fresh-baked baguettes.

In quiet things I take refuge,

And now this I will pray:

That you all may find comfort

Each one in your own way.
