Silhouette of Sovereignty

Kenbe La!

By Rebekah LaFontant Published 4 years ago 1 min read

Homecoming

Tequila infused tear-stained soul windows

Coping with conditioning

Isolation and mistrust

Misunderstood yet unique

The manuscript to life

Handed down put me downs

And an inner voice as deep as societal church organs

Baritone laced brittle bones

She could barely crack a smile

HOMECOMING

False prophets spew parody narratives of the world out there

All she wanted was to explore

The map of her mind

Untapped by the limitations of others

Her chest burned with excitement as her tears brought cleansing and clarity

HOMECOMING

Mini sanctuaries in places conjured up by imagination

An escape room fit for a genius

The foundation

An idea only loose-leaf pages of notebooks saw

Each destination a place unvisited

Dreamt of many firsts

HOMECOMING

Passport stamps

A true collection of imagery

For the windows of freedom

It was only here

Vulnerability was an option

Courage knows no boundaries

In the currents of non-constraint and nonconformity

Where to next?

Wanderlust fulfillment of an unknown pedigree

HOMECOMING

Pack light

The next destination

She will not need much

Sandy beaches and open horizons

Nature’s Kiss

For the refinement of one’s sanity

A healing oasis

Warm kisses from the sun

As sand plays musical chairs

Under wiggly burrowed toes

Home is the touch of the universe

Breeze blown black tresses

The definition of

True melanin magic

A reflection of her own divinity

HOMECOMING

Waves crashing upon the shoreline

Blue as the royals

Welcoming the red undertones of royalty

It was here that she was to build the next sanctuary

A fortress of the freedom her ancestors fought for

Revolutionized regalness

A view curated by

Tequila infused tear strained soul windows

HOMECOMING

Sak pase she says to the soil

Here is where she belongs

Greeted with the greatness of herstory

Reaching the silhouette of sovereignty

The sanctuary of silent prayers screaming

Kenbe La!

Are now answered.
