Silent Constant

A poem of lost and found

By Jake LoPrestiPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

I surrender to this pain

It’s no different than the rain

It’s like at first I want to refrain

But I let it just soak me to the bone

Maybe I was made out of clay

And maybe I’ll go back some day

Until then all I can say

Is that I understand the side of the fire

This is all just a moment in space

There’s no time and still no place

If I could change then I might save face

But in the ends it’s just between us two

The thunder cracks and breaks overhead

I feel complete with the things I’ve said

I still contemplate as I lay in bed

But this is a multidimensional kind of life

I guess I’ve missed you here with me

And it’s hard to admit and truly see

I guess I got a bit lost eating from that tree

Maybe we can connect again

Pain is just a temporary thing

And think of all the good it can bring

So, from my depths I choose to sing

The sun will rise again!
