Something’s there, stuck in the way
In the way of what I wish I’d say
Leaking batteries and tangled wires
Ensnare my voice and quench my fires
Not free to speak or make a sound
Clamped down and down into the ground
Eager thoughts remain unstated— self-silenced and deflated….
Doubt in my throat— thoughts trapped behind— is there any worth in speaking my mind?

Hey, say what you feel, but think before you speak - it usually works if you are thoughtful. great line - Eager thoughts remain unstated— self-silenced and deflated….
At first draft, this poem was drastically different— initially it was a poem about silence stemming from self-hate. but the product didn’t feel authentic or relatable. They say to write what you know: doubt and general uncertainty are more my speed. Especially with poetry, as I’m not well read or well practiced with poems. So I’m eager to hear feedback in general.
