Silence and the Stray

By Elsa Michaela | @surfthoughtPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

Lay down

In a rare patch of sun

Your silence tells me I’m wrong

For having wished

In your silence I lean in to kiss

Goodbye to the light we shared

In silence only I

Know the world in which I let you live

I say I’m fine

With hurtful things

I play nice

We’ll call it friends

I don’t trust my mind’s games

That played in silence

Reframe

Name me the killer

Silence my claims

Of innocence

Grey windows

under lock and key

Reminders of the stray in me.

heartbreak

About the Creator

Elsa Michaela | @surfthought

When you hear a song

One that stops you in your tracks

That seems spoken from your own mind

Do you listen and listen again?

Follow its streams until a tide,

Inside you

Rushes to fill in the small hollow parts

…Yeah, me too
