I showered today.
That means nothing to you
It’s an easy menial task
But the thought of seeing myself
My naked body exposed to the world
Makes me nauseous
You enjoy washing your hair
Lathering up with shampoo is relaxing
But for me it’s exhausting
Holding my arms above my head
They’re heavy and dead
The water washing down your skin
The warmth is calming for most
But to me it feels like hands touching me
Grabbing and pulling.
I had a shower today
And although to you it’s nothing
I showered despite the panic that chokes

I just write what I feel. Sometimes it’s short. Sometimes it’s long. Sometimes it rhymes. Occasionally I write stories. But mostly poetry.
