On the lake
The fish are not biting so good
So I sit back, relax, watching,
The activity in the neighborhood
A family of geese swimming
Dad in front, mom in rear
Goslings flapping young wings
Living their life with no fear
Beautiful doe on the shore
Twin fawns by her side
Grazing and suckling a teat
Fearless with mom close by
A bass jumping high towards the sky
Grabbing a bug on the surface
Ignoring my new lovely lure
I think he does it on purpose
A hawk sitting high in a tree
Enjoying the beautiful weather
A beaver gliding across the lake
Slapping his tail if I’m any closer
I didn’t catch many fish this day
So you may ask, “Why do you go?”
It doesn’t matter if the fish don’t bite
Nature provides a spectacular show
