Should Have Known

should've would've couldn't didn't

By BrenPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

i should have known something

something or anything

anything at all

instead i was fucking oblivious

trapped in and under

your wiley ways

then lost inside myself

for endless cold days

i rounded up lost thoughts

and seized upon my strays

and set the dead weight

inside alight in a fiery blaze

yes i guess i had to confess

i was not in the loop

so to speak

i was completely fucking oblivious

i’m not proud of the things

to which i succumb

i’m organically smart

emotionally dumb

doesn’t help a jot

if it’s dead mute or numb

everything is not possible

and immunity from the sun

then became when again

was i was so far behind

that i was in front

no…i was fucking oblivious

what did i hope to

or think i’d find

the things i saw

should’ve made me blind

the things i found

i hoped to never ever have to find

they took apart shook apart

they blew my mind
