Shore

shallow

The tide ebbs, not far enough to reach the sandbar;

there is danger of getting dragged out and around,

missing it, your feet finding water

where the sand should be,

realizing that you are far out indeed,

the tide turning, over your head

even between the swells,

changing direction,

tossing you this way and that.

Dive under and swim for shore,

back to the safety of the shallow, boring

pools on the beach.

    I prefer the boring pools on the beach. This is a very vivid description of what happens out there if you're unlucky. Loved it!
