It’s Mother’s warm embrace
Dad’s laughter and guidance
The home-cooked meals
And bandages over scraped elbows
Home is the first step inside after school
Our first wobbly block on a bike
It’s our best friend’s laughter as they pick us up
From our greatest mistakes
It’s the caress of loved ones
As they wipe tears from our eyes
When we hold them close
In love or sadness
Home is receiving our first door key
To that dorm, apartment, and house - each
Our Fortress of Solitude
And shared Sacred Space
It’s the place that pains you
Not knowing when or if you’ll return
Goodbyes and well-wishes as life paths diverge
While our connections never wane
Home is the sanctuary built for our children
Blood and furred alike
It’s the place we can never go back to
As time claims our loves
Home is a place
Home is a time
Home is a group
Home is a feeling
A place within and outside
Time and space
And ourselves
Home is the shifting sands
Of stardust in
Our maelstrom of change
About the Creator
C.B. Miller
I'm primarily an novelist, writing gritty urban fantasy stories. Eventually I'll break out into Sci-Fi and epic fantasy as well. On vocal, I'm hoping to talk about all things motivational.
