The Poem

The shadows shifting

on the wall with every move

I make.

I wonder, how much

longer will I have this test

to take?

I have been here for

a long, long while, trapped in this

dark place.

I wish I could be

free from this, return light to

my face.

But the scientists

who keep me here do not

agree.

They say I must be

contained, lone, and do not hear

my plea.

Will someone come and

rescue me, take me away

from here?

I raise my voice to

the stars shining from above

in fear.

The shadows stop their

shifting; I see lights flashing

below...

Liberation comes

to me, and the shadows still

follow.
