Until She Wasn't

When you said to her “Don’t leave” and got up to go,

She smiled.

When you said to her “I’ll be back” and weren’t,

She waited.

When you said “I’m sorry” and meant it,

She shrugged.

When you said “Forgive me” and waited,

She turned.

When you said “Please?” and reached for her,

She was gone.

And now you're writing sad, sad songs?

She is still gone.

If she came back, however, what kind of songs could you write?

That's what we thought.
