She Was Beaten by the Algorithm

No one would hear from her again

She was beaten by the algorithm

Buried her so deep in the mire

No one would hear from her again

Power and dollars and influence

Are all that evil men desired

She was beaten by the algorithm

There was no means to silence them

They owned the wireless and wires

No one would hear from her again

Without a hint of violence

She never formally resigned

She was beaten by the algorithm

Mal- and mis- and dis-information

The three conspired, deceptive liars

No one would hear from her again

Civil discourse, democracy’s erosion

Truth could not stop their sudden demise

She was beaten by the algorithm

No one would hear from her again

Inspired by the Atlantic and the University of Chicago Institute of Politics event entitled “DISINFORMATION: And the Erosion of Democracy”

livestreamed here.

So, this is an epitaph for democracy if we do not take a stand and do something about it in a united way. If we let anti-social billionaires, tyrants and sociopaths control our conversations, we are a doomed humanity. It cannot be said any plainer or more direct. We stand at a crossroads of history, and being silent and inactive are not options. We owe to our families, children and grandchildren to act now!
