She’s The Queen Of Major Comebacks
With steel-capped inner strength

She often sits and ponders the years that have past,
She sifts through each broken piece and remembers its story,
Some only show cracks worn through the test of time,
Others are shattered and way past their glory.
******
She no longer attempts to piece them back together,
No, throughout the resounding years she has become far too wise,
She knows those breaks are from the terrible choices she has made,
More often than not broken from the ugly truths hidden in disguise.
******
Scar tissue built up over time from mistakes that cost her dearly,
Rivers flooding her soul from tears of grief ripping her raw,
Heartbreak that caused constant bleeds,
And too many goodbyes where’s she’s had to shut and lock the door.
******
But her broken bits are not all she has become to be,
She’s full of major comebacks and steel-capped inner strength,
There are pieces of her soul that are totally unbreakable,
And the soft spots that are left, she guards at any length.
******
Peace is beginning to wind through her days,
Slowly at first, with patches of predicted turmoil,
But things are slowly slotting into place,
And her serenity is beginning to flower and uncoil.
******
Decades she has worked at changing the status quo,
Not quite ready, but spent building bridges to meet her monsters face to face,
Preparing for the final resolution, her last hoorah,
Which will finally instil total peace within her saving grace.

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
