Little girl with her metal spoon

Goes out to play each afternoon

She digs the earth a hole so deep

Searching for the treasures beneath

Young girl a spirit so bright

Wishes upon a star each night

To find a love and travel the lands

To feel the touch of a lovers hand

Life goes by with happiness and grief

Tears have stained that woman’s cheeks

Resilient and strong she remains to be

Her mind and soul still a mystery

Old woman with her walking cane

Watches the sky let loose the rain

Closes her eyes to go back to a time

Remembers the mountains she would climb

Beautiful girl what a life to live

All that love that you would give

No regrets and lived forever free

That girl is a bird. That girl is me.
