She comes back

Dreams

By Javier Published 9 months ago 1 min read

there are nights when there´s no escape,

night after night,

you shadow crosses my bed

like a memory too heavy to carry.

i see you

sitting at the edge of some dream

with that sadness hanging from your

hands,

like maybe you want to come back too,

but you can´t.

i reach for you,

call you softly,

like someone trying not to wake

something worse.

and you smile,

and old smile, broken,

a promise we never kept.

i wake up with cold sheets,

an empty chest,

fists clenched tight.

how absurd

still waiting for you in dreams

when the real world

doesn´t even save a place for you

anymore.

but that´s me:

an idiot clinging to ruins,

a guy who comes back night after

night

to lick the ashes

of something that died long ago.

Wow that heartbreaking. I can feel your sadness through your words.
