Shattered Heart
A Poem on Breaking Up with Anger
Anger comes through as a fine friend when we feel let down by others. We feel entitled or vindicated The justification, or the right to feel angry, feels comforting.
But it doesn't go away. The shattered glass of a broken, angry heart is difficult to mend. And if you're the impulsive sort, It compels one to take impulsive and regrettable actions.
Breaking up with anger is hard to do. It's never easy to fit the glass shards of an angry heart together. But a few deep breaths, healthy expression of your needs (perhaps the individuals who made you mad didn't realise they did), and reframing the situation from a different perspective may help to make the breakup a little less messy.
Enjoy this nonet.
Broken glass shards of an angry heart
Shattered, dispersed and hard to mend
But shards prick the feet, pain starts
Blood spurts volumes, no end
Winds of drawn breath douse
Speech of truth will calm
Mend heart with
Sharp, new
lens.

We all could use the new lens sometimes. Relationships are hard sometimes.
