Shadows in the moonlight,
Creeping along the ground,
Silent as a whisper,
Without even a sound.
Mystery and magic,
In the darkness of the night,
The shadows dance and flicker,
In the pale moonlight.
Shapes and forms that shift and change,
With every passing cloud,
A dance of light and shadow,
That leaves you spellbound.
The night is full of secrets,
That only shadows know,
And in the silver moonlight,
Their secrets start to show.
So if you venture out tonight,
And gaze up at the sky,
Look out for the shadows,
As they go dancing by.
For in the moonlight's glow,
They come alive and play,
A dance of light and shadow,
Until the break of the day.

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.
