Shadowlands
Mending Angels
wings of an angel
devil in your eyes
you are completely unable
to let my sins slide
you lock me away
in an ivory tower
you bend and you sway
until you have the power
gaslight and kerosene
to keep me in line
till I don't question anything
my anger, benign
you cross the street
to avoid being seen
the truth bares its teeth
your lies are obscene
a babbling swirl
of what i've wanted to hear
you maneuver and twirl
until my doubts disappear
cavities form deeply
onto the backs of my teeth
from the nonsense you seep
empty and sugary sweet
i would pull them all out
if i thought it would help
but i trip up and fall down
all over myself
you smile, as you're certain
another feather, to don
you've drawn the curtain
and begin to move on
but you left me, still breathing
your fatal mistake
your reaction is pleasing
brings a smile to my face
you let your guard down
underestimated my power
now, it's you, on the ground
this is my fateful hour
your reign finally ended
crushed to dust, by my hand
victory is sweet-scented
over my shadowlands

Oooo, this was burning fiyahhhhhhh! So powerful!
The view from the ground never looked so good as to see you reigning supreme.
Love a good "gotcha" piece. Well done, my friend.
