Shade

Light or Lack Thereof

You by the room on the edge of a corner of a street

Do you know who I am?

Pretending to be silent. Pretending just to be alone.

At least I know that part of me

But if I forgive and I live

Then I think I will be

The only one who sees

The shade of you that follows me makes me so green.

And I don't think I am enough

You held me down for nothing and you are gone

I just wanted somewhere to belong

One day maybe I'll have the strength to move along

But till then I am a shadow on your lawn
