Shacambria

The name my mother gave me.

By B LawsPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Ten letters made me different growing up.

I remember trying to find words that rhymed with my name while I was in the tub.

I used to google my name just to see who else would pop up.

It always said the search was invalid so I just shrugged.

The teachers used to pronounce it wrong.

I used to be ashamed of my name because it was so long.

I couldn’t even participate in the The Name Game song.

I always felt like I didn’t belong...

My name is what made me unique.

My name made me stand out as beautiful & sweet.

When people started to hear my name more, they automatically knew it was me.

Shacambria the brown skinned girl with the nice teeth...

Forest green always looked nice on me.

That color made me stand out even more.

My name was so unique it made me want to explore.

You will know it’s me the girl with the unique name wearing forest green when I come through the door.
