A SESTINA

We are talking about seven generations

And that is more than fifty years

Here me

I’m speaking

I attempt to walk my talk

What about you

------

How can you

Do your part for the coming generations

We will need more than just talk

We have been talking for years

And what do we get from speaking

I know you can hear me

------

What more do you want from me

And what can we expect from you

All the speaking

From all the generations

For so many years

All we hear is talk

------

Is there anyone left to talk

I know it isn’t me

As after all these years

It really should be others but it’s me and you

Talking about the consequences for the generations

We can prepare others who plan to do speaking

-------

But it can’t be only you and me speaking

I have no trouble when it comes to a talk

My concern will always be future generations

You see it really isn’t about you or me

Rather it is up to everyone including me and you

To give our relatives to come the gift of many years

-------

You and I have had many years

I have been doing my part in speaking

I’m thinking that has been true for me and you

Let’s sit down and talk

I think I know what is in store for me

If we can’t help our future generations

Let’s both walk the Talk

You and Me

For our future generations
