A Poem

Oh god, it’s September!

I wish I couldn’t remember

I’ve been in such a hurry

Scurrying here and there

It’s that time of year

I have managed a Top Story this month every year

But the window is closing

And I don’t have anything worthy

What am I going to do

If I don’t meet my high standards that only exist in my imagination

Am I trying to get over a hump

Or just in slump

Life’s been lumpy bumpy road lately

I miss her so much

Thank goodness her birthday is also Mexico’s birthday

Otherwise I would have been drowned in sorrow the other day

And now it’s already tomorrow

And I still haven’t called him

Just running around

On empty

Someone come and get me

I need a friend
