Woke up this morning on a Tuesday, brand new day. What lies ahead for me on this sky blue day.

Sunshine, beautiful smiles, laughs and jokes. Followed by the blue sky blanketed in a cloud of smoke.

Sitting in my workplace paradise in the sky. I didn't think this was the day I would die.

Before my plane took off and was air bound I never thought once this was the last time I'd ever touch the ground.

Dear God I wish I could've seen it. What should've been a regular flight became a flight of the phoenix.

I left my parents house like a breeze in the wind. I had no idea that they would never see me again.

That military chief who risked his life protecting the country died a pentagonal death that effected the country.

If I told you this story would you believe me? Of course you would, the entire world viewed it on tv.

As I hear about the crashes of three other flights, I sit in the back of my plane ready to fight.

I know I'll die when the enemy crashes my plane, but I'll be putting up a fight so that I won't die in vain.

I'll keep climbing this tower, even if it gets higher or even if it means I have to lose my life in the fire.

Four planes went up, two towers went down and the heart of defense billowed smoke from the ground.

The lives that were lost were sisters and brothers, friends and lovers, pets, landmarks, fathers and mothers.

There is so much I wish I could say to you. I didn't know September 11th would be the final day for you.

Though life was lost, our loved ones are never gone and we'll never forget what happened that September Dawn.

Beautiful, yet heartbreaking, even after all these years.

  • This was so heartwrenching. Very sad to think of all those innocent lives. This was a beautifully written emotional poem
