The Five Senses
Oh, how our senses bring the world alive
With colors, sounds, and scents that thrive
Tastes and touches that we derive
From the things around us that contrive
First, sight, the sense that lets us see
The beauty of nature and its majesty
From the rising sun to the sparkling sea
Our eyes take in all the glory that can be
Next, hearing, the sense that lets us hear
The rustling leaves and birds so dear
The sound of laughter that brings us cheer
And music that moves us to tears
Then, smell, the sense that lets us breathe
The fragrances of flowers and freshly cut sheaves
Of baking bread and brewing coffee that we seethe
The scent of rain that we do perceive
Taste, the sense that lets us savor
The flavors of food that we relish and favor
From sweet to salty to sour and bitter
Our taste buds indulge in endless pleasure
Finally, touch, the sense that lets us feel
The warmth of the sun and the coolness of steel
The softness of fur and the roughness of peel
And the gentle caress of a loved one's zeal
Oh, the five senses, how they enrich our lives
Allowing us to experience the world that thrives
So let us cherish and enjoy these gifts that arrive
For they are what make our lives truly alive.
