Finally blue, and able to appreciate the pink
When I entered the world they painted it pink,
Assigned me a story,
a limit,
a box,
And as I got older and the paint flaked and faded,
A blue hue wrapped the disappearing pink facade.
In the cool blue was a calming embrace,
But the world splashed pink back on the walls,
A color I hated and wished to be abated,
but truly it wasn’t her fault.
I clung to the blue with all that’s inside me,
Truly willing to lose it all,
And in that realization it began to come clear,
Maybe it’s actually my call?
It’s my turn to choose the color that’s me,
And to finally paint rainbows on these walls.
