Self-love

how i learned to love the me that i see

By Kia T Cooper-ErbstPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Hatred is the reverse of love

I hated myself

my hair …..

curly muddy brown

my eyes ….

again muddy brown

my height

To short for some but not tall enough

Average at best

My complexion

was i ugly or pretty

Skin tone

Considered to be either not black or to black depending

On who you ask

My weight

Not skinny but not obese

Hatred was my enemy for years

Not someone else’s hatred but

My own

I finally figured out that love of self

Is the reverse of hatred

Now i say i love myself

My hair a beautiful curly ebony mass

My eyes the colour of warm brandy

My height perfect just for me

Weight curvy in just the right places

My complexion and skin tone

a creamy warmness of clear smooth honey

Hatred is the reverse of love while

Love always tops hatred.

inspirational
