Self Ideas; Secrets Unburied

The stranger stares and asks ''Who are you?''

Huh, well, what do you mean exactly by that?

Do you wish to learn about all the ideas I truly think defines me,

or are you looking for the lies, the superficial,

the mundane titles and socialy acceptable masks we all wear?

For I will tell you, exactly, in all its ugliness,

the ideas of the self, the ideas of my Self

Stories known, understood and faithfully accepted

only by ourselves for ourselves;

I am smarter than most, I am more talented than most

I much prefer creative striving to mindless hedonism;

the unexamined life is not worth living!

Such idealist ideas of the sublime and the beautiful,

are sure to cater to one's delusional ego, yes!

Despite all the half-truths one convinces himself to believe,

one is never truly emancipated from the childlike, weak

and all too succeptible doubt that lies in our innermost psyche;

I am nothing, I am worthless, I am but a powerless babe,

and all this certainty and confidence is but a lowly facade-

A facade indeed! Eroded and washed away at the first sign,

at the first omen of trouble, uncertainty, at an unwanted question-

Ah to be free, to be strong and true to one self,

what impossible dreams, what nonsensical ideas,

for the ideas that defines ourselves are mere lies,

platitudes, temporary spectacles to distract from our deepest,

most primal fears; I am alone, vulnerable, and not worthy of love.
