Self-Care Rebel

A worthy cause

You’ve heard of self-care,

but what is it even?

Been told it’s a crime to take time for yourself,

committing treason

you heathen

against the church of capitalism.

No,

bleeding soul,

rise and claim what you own,

your body, your mind, your energy your throne.

Child, you’ve been told lies about productivity and success

that it only comes from raw exhaustion

never taking any rest!

Cocoon those lies,

wrap them in true realizations

that you are a person of great worth and

celebration.

Burst forth butterfly,

in all your glory,

did I mention

you’re worth it,

your worthy,

you

are

holy.

Your time is yours and creativity is your guide

to meet the needs of all those you provide--

for I know how much you have loved,

others.

Mended their hearts.

I know you have obligations

to care for their parts,

but first recognize the beating heart

in your own chest

because without it vitality

your acts with be

breathless.

Breathe.

Bring in the care you deserve.

Honour your needs,

that inner voice always left unheard.

Speak sweet sentiments,

cuddle the child inside,

the one that did not receive

the love you now provide.

Hold your heart,

go within,

love yourself for the transformation to begin,

for this is your greatest act of

rebellion.
