Hey, amigis! I hope everyone is doing well.

In case you didn't know, I have been doing my Spoken Word #WorthyVideo series where I'm sharing one poem from each section of my poetry collection. It's called Rise in Love: A Poetry Collection (Revised Edition). You can find it on Amazon Kindle, Apple Books, Nook, and Scribd. And I've just been doing this in the hopes of bringing some inspiration and hope to others and myself.

There are five sections: You, Them, Life, God, and Me. So far, I did "Fish, Cheese, and Forty-Two," which is from the Life section, and "Senses," which is from the God section. But just because of some stuff I've been going through recently, I thought I'd do a poem from the Me section since I've been thinking about loving myself, taking care of myself, and my relationship with myself.

So, this is called, "Self-Care":

My beautiful, darling,

sweetheart, y preciosa me.

Can't I see?

I've come so far for my loving self

to let myself fall back

into the addictions of my own mind.

My soul needs relief

in order to rise again,

but only I can dry the

teardrops on my feathers

whether I want to or not.

Only then can I start to spread my wings,

as well as caressingly clear

my throat for my best voice to sing

and my inner call to ring out.

All of my loved ones

can help me prepare.

Rub my back, bring what I need,

cheer me on, and

plant the seed of faith

in my own abilities.

In the end, though?

I can't take them with me

into the deepest parts

of my being, where

my goals and dreams reside.

They can only go

beside me.

So, I bend my legs,

perched on the end of my branch,

and prepare to defend

the beginning of my future.

I look to the sky,

where I must trust myself to

finally fly

and soar once more. (Rivera, 2020)
