Self -Appreciation Challenge
10 Things I Appreciate About Myself
10 Qualities I love about myself
1. Basic things I do every morning regardless of my challenges and struggles- one thing I love about myself is regardless of pain, loss, in justice, humiliation, rejection, and failure I go through in my life; I rise every morning say my morning prayer, fold my bed neatly, drink a hot cup of lemon or gallic water, brush my teeth, fix my hair, tidy my table, fill my diary and go about the business of the day. These little activities empower me to stay strong and stay focused on my values and goals.

2. I am my own best friend – though I am an extrovert person, I love spending time with myself when am not on public duty. I love being alone because I can read, write, medicate on the Word of God, fill my diary, set new goals, plan for an activity, pray, reflect, tidy my stuff, and so forth. It is peaceful being alone with me. The beauty of my inner world always attracts and captivates me. I don’t feel lonely or depress being with myself.

3. I heal quickly through self-counselling - I went through a lot in my life. I was rejected, betitled, humiliated, laughed at, criticized, abandoned, and cheated on. However, negative emotions generated by these challenges do not harbor in my heart for long. This is because whenever I faced those challenges, I resolve to myself and do self-counselling. I believe Holy Spirit is the best Counsellor so I use to allow Him to work through my wounded soul and minister healing.

4. I believe in my little ability - am not a smart and clever person. Back in school, I was an average student. I never got academic awards. At the work place, am slow, but trust in my little ability compounded with faithfulness and determination have secured for me higher education and a life full of sense of accomplishments.

5. Serve – after I graduated from the university, I went back to my village and local church and served voluntarily for 15 years. I used my knowledge and expertise to do strategic plans and policies for church, charity and social organizations. I also preach, teach, and do counselling. Am so passionate in serving and adding value to others.

6. My family values – my mother taught me to: put God first, go to church every Sundays, pray before eating, tidy my bed, come home before 6pm, work and you will eat, take care of little things and you will take care of big things, everything must be in order, neat and tidy, don’t harbor sin, value your health, have one wife and one husband, be willing to lead, and serve others. These values made me a disciplined, reliable and responsible person. I greatly appreciate it.

7. My heart is clear and free – I don’t feel comfortable staying with sins. Whenever I sinned, I either confessed to God or to the person I wronged. I have 1 husband and no ‘side chicks’, or I don’t cheat with men in social media. All my properties are solely my own. Either I bought them or someone gave them to me. My phone and computer do not have any pornography items. Am not in debt to anyone, and I don’t contribute to other’s misfortune. If am going through a struggle in my life, it was because someone lied or cheated on me. It wasn’t my doing. My conscience is free and clear, and I love this aspect of my life.

8. I celebrate my friends and families’ success with passion and true spirit
In a culture where jealousy and competition are dominant, I have this unique attribute and I love it.
For instance, one time I was having bath in the bathroom when my mother told me that my uncle came with his new dyna (vehicle) which his in- law, a lawyer bought for him as a gift (vehicle). Soap and water still on my body, I put on my clothes and run and joined the welcome (singing and dancing) of the new vehicle.
You know, we are living in a developing economy struggling with high cost of living and for someone to buy a vehicle and give to my uncle is a miracle.

9. Caring and concern person -this is my outstanding attribute. I don’t settle well when I see my loved ones or friends sick or in a difficult situation. I reached out to them without them inviting me. I always try my best to do anything to help them. The people who received my care usually admit that my care was extraordinary. In my society where greed and self-rule, I appreciate this quality in my life.

10. My relationship with the Lord -I begun following Jesus Christ during my Sunday school days. I came from a poor background raised by a single mother. I was empty and necked but He filled me and my cup overflows. Passing 40 now and I still have my Jesus.
