Self-Appraisal Poem

Turn To The Now

Perhaps my pondering,

should stay where the water ripples,

around my feet

rather then what is beyond the

golden horizon.

***

Perhaps I should not

spark like a spitting ember

when the wind

shifts its directions.

***

Perhaps my mind

should open like

a springtime window,

welcoming the fresh,

fragrant air.

***

Perhaps I should roll

as effortlessly as

a marble across

polished floor.

***

Perhaps my days

would be less burdened

with stones of my own making

pressing on my back

like a cavewoman’s load,

and more serene,

like a Zen monk,

who greetings the brief landing

of of single fly

on his shoulder,

then lets it go.

I give myself self talk everyday to help me make the right decisions. Very relatable
