Seeing the Divine Everywhere
A Mystical Ghazal by Shah Nimatullah Wali

Shah Nimatullah Wali, a 14th-century Persian Sufi poet and mystic, expressed deep spiritual truths through his poetry. His verses often invite the reader to see beyond the material world and recognize the divine presence in all things. In this ghazal, he urges the seeker to look at the beloved’s face as a reflection of God, to witness beauty with the heart rather than the eyes, and to understand that all existence is illuminated by divine light. The poem beautifully captures the essence of Sufi thought—where love, wisdom, and divine presence are intertwined.
🌿 If your heart seeks to know the Divine, then behold
The face of the beloved—where beauty unfolds.
💫 You will not find that radiant face with earthly sight,
Yet with the eyes of the heart, the world blooms in light.
✨ Everywhere shines His eternal flame,
No night remains—His glow is the same.
🌙 Why grieve over this fleeting land?
All is dust—only His truth shall stand.
