See my Scars

Black Lives Matter Poetry

By Distinguished Honorary Alumni Dr. Matthew PrimousPublished about a year ago 1 min read

You say that I am not like you

You say that I am not smart like you

You say that I am not equal to you

You look at me as a threat

You look at me as a hazard

But if you really knew me

You will see I am human

You will see I am real

You will see I cry

You will see I feel

You will see I hurt

You will see I am not perfect like you

And you will embrace me

You will look pass my color

You will look pass my mishap

You will look pass my faults

You will look pass my shame

You will see my scars

You will see my pain

And you will help me

like you would want to be help

like your best friends

like your beloved ones

See my scars and you will see me
