Some secrets are better kept being saved

I do not love you like I say I do,
yet I smile and laugh along the way,
because if the truth is revealed to you
my heart would not last for another day.
She longs for what will never be again,
or perhaps for what really never was.
Either way she swears that everything can
be just as if she'd had a mom she loved.
Some secrets are better off being saved,
and for her, I will take this to the grave.
