Made is more real than the maker
Reside in the liminal space
Between primed canvas and signature’s scrawl
Stay moment! Abide eternal
Safe in the layers of underpainting
Shaping laser space cats
On an eighties background
Art school took its pound of flesh
Twenty years later I can only paint
If I have a person in mind
To bestow my humble offering
A corner folded
In friendship’s book
Given with a sincere heart and open countenance
Yet a mischievous thought accompanies my gift
If not to their taste
Hang it in the bathroom to look at
While pooping
Gallery blasphemy
Alternately, I suggest you regift it
To someone secretly despised
Amusement at their confusion
My own petite méchanceté
Tiny rebellion
For a world too serious and self-absorbed
About the Creator
Aspen Marie
In love with life and all of its foibles.

Well-wrought! Life is full of such double entendres! I'm reminded of those times when someone distinctly unlikable experiences a minor misfortune and another is heard to remark: "It couldn't have happened to a better person." Oh, the irony!
Interesting!!!
