Schrodinger's Spider
Is there (or is there not) a spider through that door?

On the other side of this door
Is
(Or is not)
A large
Black
Spider,
As big as the palm of my hand
(Not that I would actually hold it.)
It was there
Two days ago:
Of a bigness extreme;
Legs spread out a mile;
Looming in the darkness;
Lying in wait.
Lurking among the shoes,
Just waiting for its chance
To attack the unwary.
I am not
Stepping into
That ambush.
For two days,
The door has remained
Firmly shut.
(And locked,
Just in case.)
After all,
With all those arms,
The ability to turn a knob,
To open a door
Does not seem out of the question.
The cat is not allowed
To go out there.
What if she catches it?
What if she doesn’t catch it?
What if she brings it in,
Squirming and flailing
With all those legs,
And she lets it escape
Inside the house?
Of course, the real question is:
Is it still there?
And how do I
Safely
Determine
If it is there
Or not there?
This door
May remain closed
Forever.
There are other
(Spiderless)
Doors
I can use
Instead.

Haha! I can relate to this! had to watch a spider like a hawk until my tall husband could come kill it this morning
My default would definitely be there is a spider until proven otherwise, and unfortunately, I know I would be the one to have to prove it. Good luck and my you be free to use that door again soon!
