Santa Rosa County

And what we had

Buried our hearts

On a land that wasn’t ours

Red soil and unforgiving boil

Barely covered up.

Where our smiles died

Carelessly laid to rest

I can barely remember when

We were good as it gets.

I can’t feel sad

I dare not feel at all

With the dizzy height of love

And the warp speed fall.

Our smiles rest there

Chose not to follow

The stomping march of lunatics

With poison to swallow.
