Overwhelmed by the ocean's massive beauty

I listened to the melody that its waves made at my feet.

Not the target species on this outing but I was pleasantly surprised with how beautiful some of these Sanderlings looked sporting their breeding colors.  The normally white and gray shorebird really comes into its own with the rusty brown and strongly patterned breast and back feathers.  There weren’t many of the Sanderlings showing off these colors so every time one would come nearby I would give it all my attention.  I really liked the foot hanging just over the surface of the wet sand and the soft reflection.  The light was getting good at this point and highlighted the colorful plumage.
