Same Old Fear
same old fear, every waking moment

Same old fear, in every waking hour,
A slip backwards, my heart does cower.
It's a fight to move, when thoughts unsteady loom,
The slip is real, in this same old room.
Same old fear, just an arm's reach away,
Deceiving thoughts, healing seems astray.
When blue skies light a path, away from pain,
The same old fear, still remains.
I exhale, take a deep breath in,
Hoping fears and pain will thin.
Resolve to relinquish set back's embrace,
A comeback fight, I must face.
Fighting temptations, starting anew,
The same old fear, I bid adieu.
Excuses form, but one day's end,
The fear of all, I must transcend.
Descending into binge's world wind,
A cycle that ascends and transcends.
