I finally cracked

And needed somewhere

To turn.

With a broken voice

I poured out my soul

To you.

I exposed my fears

And let loose

All the horrors

I have faced.

I told you secrets

I promised myself

Would never see

The light of day.

And after I laid it all out

I raised my tear streaked face

And tried to make

Our eyes meet.

I searched for

Some sort of anchor

In you.

I hopelessly looked

For a way to hold on.

But all I found

Was an empty gaze,

And it was then

That I knew.

With you,

There would never be

A safe place to go.
