Safe

Of being alive

Amidst the chaos of living

Afraid of freedom and liberty

Being lost and found

In life’s eternity

Darkness blinding in its intensity

Suddenly, sometimes

With a touch of humanity

I find home, a place of safety

Calm, and quiet, and free.

And in the arms of nature

I shall sleep tonight

Lulled by the gentle breeze

By the delicious sounds of a waterfall

Under the supernal blanket

Of a thousand stars

Warm and vast and ecstatic

Enveloped by the smell of seasons

Changing and ever-changing still

Between the caress of the wind and the earth

Like bodies of lovers entwined

In an eternal embrace enshrined

I will be safe tonight.
