Sacred Space
of Southern Grace

She goes to church every Sunday
Then makes dinner for her children,
Grandchildren, and anyone else who stops by
Serving fried chicken and buckets of sweet tea
She's taught her children to have manners
To say, “yes, mam” and “no sir” and to always be kind
Instructing them to always pray and say grace
And to treat others with love and respect
She deeply loves God and Jesus
And stands strong when her faith is mocked
Willingly surrendering to the holy truth
Sown like seeds deep in her heart and soul
She loves her man totally and hard
Her loyalty and vows she made to him never waiver
He is forever hers and she is forever his
As they promised, until death do they part
Thriving for generations
Her kinfolk are deeply rooted in the dark soil
Living proudly below the Mason Dixon line
Traditions and heritage course like blood through her veins
She is the sacred space of southern grace
