At five am the world is silent.
The coffee made while holding my breath adds little sound to the day.
I curl up in a chair and become the breathing part of it.
The newspaper would have it that the world is still there.
Somewhere else the day has been sung.
A bird chimes sharp and melodious to break the dawn.
The sun begins to stir from its bed.
It has been an hour.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
The breathing works on everything in concert.
A nurse once told me my breathing was too shallow.
I concentrate on breathing in life, breathing out fear.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.
I deepen my relationship with the day,
Breath and thoughts pushed outward in a long measured rest.
Breathe in,
Breathe out.

dude- i felt this so much! the way you put the simplicity of breath into perspective is so eye-opening about the essence of presence and mindfulness. so thank you for touching on that
Thank you, I have also been told I breathe too shallow so this resonated with me.
This was lovely. A great reminder to just slow down and be in the moment. Well done!
