Round a Fire

A Poem

These days rush by way too fast,

so many things begging my attention.

I end each day feeling so harassed,

I’m longing to ease the tension.

So I look back on simpler days

ones that were so much fun.

Back when life wasn’t such a haze,

And I felt peace when the day was done.

Close friends laughing round a fire,

and stars filling the night sky.

Young hearts filled with such a desire,

to let the whole world pass them by.

So I look back on simpler days

ones that were so much fun.

Back when life wasn’t such a haze,

And I felt peace when the day was done.

That time was gone much too quick,

And friendships drifted apart.

But the memories sure did stick,

And will stay near to my heart.

Now I look back on simpler days,

wanting to re-live the fun.

I wish life wasn’t such a haze,

and pray for peace when the day is done.
