Roots grow deep into the soil

To earth so true, very loyal

Exploring down to the eluvial zone

The layer in which plants are grown

Roots grow deep to find rich nutrients

From the Dead Sea to Mt. Vesuvius

Water percolating, drawn deep by gravity

Flowing freely through every cavity

Roots grow deep to stay alive

In order for the entire organism to thrive

As leaves do drop high above

Humus, detritus to give itself love

Roots grow deep and sometimes peek above the surface

As this great tree you see before us

Majestic, regal, strong and wise

To the sky the limbs do rise

Roots grow deep to inspire us all

To get back up and stand up tall

Honor all trees with a great reverence

Practice togetherness, not severance

Roots, roots to supply the shoots

And ladders to climb to pluck the fruits

Dig in with all your might

Let the tree be the example to live in the light
