Rodent Angst

Mice from the fields

By Marla CheldelinPublished 3 years ago 1 min read

That mouse in the cupboard has no shame,

chomping away at all hours of the day.

I opened the little cupboard to take a peak at the tasty treat.

The flash of a tail to a hole in the wall,

and then a whiskered face stared back at me.

I glanced down to see scattered treats with the marks of teeth.

And slammed the cupboard door to block the sight!

Marvelous silence…echoing in my ears as I tiptoe away,

dreading the return of the chomp Chomp CHOMP.

I glare at the cat grooming her tail,

oblivious to the angst hanging in the air.
