What is life if not a river
Full of fish and light and motion
Flowing gently to the ocean
To the beach it will deliver
All the boats that stay afloat
What am I if not a boat
Drifting down the greenish waters
Like so many sons and daughters
Who have gone to shores remote
Looking for the Little Dipper
Who are you if not the skipper
Guiding me around the shallows
With the patience that hallows
Our course to water deeper
What is life if not a river
