Living in the present is not a cup of tea. Life and times teach us to develop contingencies and make preparations for unwanted eventualities.

Yes, necessity makes it difficult to stay in the present.

Yet staying in the present is itself a necessity. To illustrate why, I once lost control of my little puppy simply because I was not alert at that moment. A task occupied my mind.

A truck nearly ran her down. So was I, in my anxious attempt to retrieve her from the middle of the road.

Fortunately, we’re both none the worse for wear. The puppy, named Snowball, still snowballs her way around the house.

So, go with the flow and ride with the wind when necessary. We don’t have to let plans consume us all the time. Enjoy this nonet.

Wind

Blows through

Green leaves fold

Trees sway with gust

Branches bend with thrust

But branches do not break

Twist with the wind’s mighty force

Always stay in tandem with time

Knowing their shielded boughs are lasting.
